Ways To Prevent The Spread of Staph Infection
There are ways that infections which are contagious can spread. For example, most cold related infections are airborne infection. Staph infection, or known as staff infection in some place, is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. The Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is resistant to common antibiotics like methicillin as well as others like amoxicillin and penicillin, thus there are very limited treatment for staph infection as of now.
The bad thing about Staph infection is not only because of limited treatment availability, but also because staph infection is also contagious. Staph infection can be spread only through human to human contact, although there is some research saying that it can be spread through pets as well. Although it is say human to human contact, there is risk that staph bacteria will remain on the surface of the things that have been touched by an infected patient. With this knowledge, we can prevent the spread of staph infection to the community.
There are several ways to prevent community associated infection. First, each of us should ensure that cuts and scrapes are clean and covered. Next, wash hand always as this will kill off the bacteria that are on the skin. If possible, avoid skin to skin contact especially visiting staph infection patient. Finally, after visiting staph infection patient, wash the body thoroughly and sanitize the clothes as this will ensure the staph organism is washed off the clothes and body.
Staph infection can be fatal if not given medical attention when contracted with it. Although there is antibiotics that can be used for treatment, but it is still best to prevent it from infecting our body, as the saying goes, prevention is better than cure.
